Summer Fireworks
Guatemalan Loom Woven Rayon Multicolored Striped Scarf
$64.99
SKU: 312510
From the female artisan group Ranm Ixoqi' of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, comes this multi-colored, loom-woven scarf. Ranm Ixoqi' means 'woman's heart' in Kaqchikel, a language of Mayan descent still spoken in several departments in the central region of Guatemala. Using a traditional backstrap loom, rayon in sapphire, tangerine, magenta, chestnut, antique white cobalt blue, lime green, and black shades is hand-woven into this pretty striped scarf with fringe on the ends. The weaver is inspired in her choice of colors by the fireworks over the skies of Chimaltenango during the annual festivities in honor of Santa Ana, the municipality's patron saint.
