Yellow Samarkand Renaissance

Part of a long lineage of silk artisans, Nurmukhammad Valiyev combines traditional techniques with modern trends inspired by Uzbekistan's culture. Using a classic loom, the artisan handweaves this scarf from soft silk yarns, creating a stylish ikat pattern in a palette of yellow, red, purple and turquoise hues, which dance gracefully at the fringed ends.
