Hilda Zuñiga
"I am Hilda Zuniga and I was born in Costa Rica. My childhood was in a very small town which resembles an enchanted forest filled with flowers, wooden cabins, and pathways that lead to gigantic fig trees, waterfalls, and a grand waterfall. My father and his brothers decided to stop being laborers and made the decision to carve their own path and become owners of their own land, thus forming the aforementioned town. Gradually, a school was established, and that's where I began my studies and learned to paint, which became my passion.

"I remember the first artwork I created in school, and I won first place. I kept it for a long time. I began to train at an institution in Costa Rica called INA, and a very kind neighbor taught me to perfect my technique and paint on fabric. I came to realize, out of passion, how a simple drawing expresses so much beauty that exists in this world, and how people feel the same when they see it. Art is passion, love, life, color, peace, freedom, and above all, tranquility. All of this is expressed through art.

"Although it has been difficult to stand out as a craftswoman, I am always inspired by the beauty that God gives us, as we receive so much without deserving it. My art is related to the nature that our country offers us. Through my paintings, I want to showcase the biodiversity of Costa Rica's flora and fauna. One of my dreams is to achieve worldwide recognition for my artwork.

"It is challenging to live in a male-dominated society, where we are so accustomed to seeing only men excel while women remain in the shadows. Today, I can be a clear example that women can excel with or without help, even from our spouses. I am a craftswoman who fights to move forward despite any comments that may exist. I know that little by little, I will be recognized and become a clear example for many women.

"I am grateful to NOVICA for trusting in me and my art. Knowing that customers can have a piece of Costa Rica in their homes fills me with pride. I give thanks for recognizing my talent and believing in each piece I create. Everything is done with so much love and dedication, hoping that it meets your standards and brings happiness to have my art in your hands."
