Maya Cycles of Life

Sharing the rich legacy of the ancient Maya, Ruben and Gilda Perez recreate a hieroglyph in jade. It depicts a skull and is named Keme, symbolizing the cycles of life — birth and death. For the ancient Maya, death was a beneficent energy. The artisans present the pendant on a black waxed cotton cord with a polished silver clasp.
