Dove of Peace in Black

The dove is a symbol of peace for many cultures and El Salvador's Maria Estela Perlera de Portillo recreates one in abstract form to commemorate her country's civil war history and the peace agreements reached after this devastating era. A dove of peace on top of a town is hand-painted in vibrant colors on the lid of a decorative box carved by hand from pinewood which is dyed black and varnished. Featuring brass hinges, the box is perfect for storing jewelry and other small belongings.
